DAGSA Board Meeting Minutes

Attendees: Timi Lesperance, Tammy Sheibley, Ron Baker, Jim Reed, Phil Klinger, Mike Humphrey, Shannon Callaghan, Kelly Hammaker, Bob Armstrong, Tina Shafer, Jason Ulrich,

Meeting Discussion Items:

  1. Treasury Report – final report pending, deposited first two registrations
  2. Meeting Minutes – from January 5 meeting motion to approve-Jim Reed, seconded – Tammy Sheibley. Minutes accepted.
  3. Field work – Deb Frisch listed on the registration form that Keystone Contracting offered to donate materials and lend equipment to roll the fields if needed. Ron Baker will ask Bob Shultz at the Wheatfield Twp meeting on February 16th. Field day at Wagner is scheduled for March 13
  4. League Meeting – next league meeting is February 21 at 4:00 pm at Penn.
  5. Scheduling – league scheduling is on March 29 at the High School at 6:00.
  6. Coaching Openings- Tee Ball - The Blanchards have volunteered to take on a team. There will be two teams. Need another coach. 
     
    10U will have 4 teams – Barry Schlossman, Bob Armstrong, Tammy Sheibley and the Timothy family have requested teams. 
     
    14U will have 3 teams – Phil Klinger, Steve Crider and Scott Cornelius have requested teams. 
     
    18U will have 2 teams – Kelly Hammaker and Jim Reed have requested teams. 
     
    12U-FP and 14U-FP – not enough girls registered to have two teams, may need to create just a 14U team. 
     
    18U-FP will have 2 teams – Ron Baker and Andy Zeigler requested teams.
  7. Opening Day – Michele Evinger will be taking photos again this year on opening day. The 18U will go first. 
     
    The Boy Scouts will be contacted to present the American Flag at opening ceremonies.  
     
    Two girls volunteered to sing the National Anthem. Considering asking both to do a duet. 
     
    Christie Young needs contacted about printing the opening day programs. 
     
    Mike will work on the Past Board Members Recognition. Discussed having a wooden plaque created with plates for each past member will space for additional members as time goes on. Mike will try to get a history of all prior DAGSA board members. The plaque would be on display at the Penn Twp concession stand during the season.
  8. Open Discussion: Barry Schlossman requested a copy of the insurance information in order for girls to do indoor practice. Steve Crider said he will email last years agreenment since the new one is not yet in place for the new season. 
     
    Steve Crider will bring down the registration form from the website on February 12th
     
    It was asked whether we would be hosting a U18 tournament. DAGSA is waiting  for the Fast Pitch tournament schedule since we may be hosting one. 
     
    Mike has a request prepared to use the High School fields but the form still has the old athletic director’s name on it. He is waiting for the form with the new director’s name and a set amount needed to use the fields. 
     
    Jim mentioned that based on the DAGSA by-laws that any girl wishing to play up in an age bracket above their normal age group will require a signed letter to the Board by the parents. Each case will be considered and approved or denied by the Board.  
     
    A parental release form is needed for all girls that are under age, playing as pick-up players for an older age bracket.  
     
    18U-FP draft will be on February 20. 
     
    By-laws need to be reviewed. 
     
    Tammy Sheibley, Jason Urich and Ron Baker will attend Wheatfield Twp meeting.
  9. Next Meeting: February 18th, 2010 at 6:30 at Penn Twp Municipal Building – meeting reserved for coaching positions and teams only.
