3.

Concession Discussion – Both Penn and Wheatfield townships approved DAGSA’s use of Huey’s for concessions this year. Timi Lesperance will contact Huey’s to attend the next board meeting to sign the contract for the 2011 season.

4.

Survey: Timi Lesperance reported that 15 responses have been received on the merger survey with West Shore. 11 responses were in favor, 3 against, 1 indifferent. She will continue to check on survey results.

5.

Slow Pitch – West Shore League - Jason Urich attended the meeting with West Shore League on Saturday, Nov. 13. Darryl Boyd seems to be the main organizer for the West Shore League. They are hoping to have a website in the near future for information. They follow ASA rules, same as DAGSA. The main difference is the bat types allowed. No composites or double-shaft bats are allowed with West Shore. There age groups are 10U, 12U, 14U, 18U. Jason explained that our 14U was created last year and we do not wish to disban and redraft affected girls for 12U teams. They understood and are fine with us keeping our age brackets. They currently have 5 18U teams, but did not have any 14U teams as of last year. This may change for 2011 with other area softball leagues approaching them as well. Shermansdale has shown interest in joining them. They hold 14 games. (7-home and 7-away). There was talk of holding double-headers on weekends when teams as far as Dillsburg are on the schedule. West Shore hosts 4 tournaments. They do not require a fee to join their league. Each town would be responsible for paying their own umpire fees for home games. West Shore league derives all of their funds from All-Star tournaments. Their scheduling occurs in mid-March. The next West Shore meeting is Saturday, Dec. 11 at noon. Jason Urich and Timi Lesperance will attend. Motion was made by Nancy Lucia to join the West Shore League for 14U and 18U for 2011 season. Seconded by Tammy Sheibley. The motion passed.

6.

Perry League Meeting – Tammy Sheibley discussed with Herb that we were looking into joining the West Shore league for the 14U and 18U age groups for slow pitch. He understood.

7.

Sponsorships – We have 14 sponsors for our teams. Only 3 more are needed. DAGSA will assume the costs of the shirts for the remaining teams if we do not receive all of the needed sponsorships.

8.

Open Discussion – A hard-copy of a letter from Mike Humphrey was circulated. Discussion is tabled until next meeting. A coach’s clinic and coaches/umpires meeting was discussed. The board feels it would be wise to conduct a coach’s clinic or meeting for all DAGSA coaches to discuss best practices in leading our teams. More discussion to follow. It was also mentioned that a meeting should be called prior to the start of the 2011 season with all coaches and umpires, so everyone is on the same page with rules and calls made by the umpires. The annual letter to parents will be condensed. Discussion was held on posting DAGSA’s financial statements on the website for people interested in viewing our finances. Timi Lesperance will work on the re-draft. Registration dates will be January 12th from 6-8 and January 22 from 1-3. If needed a third registration date will be reserved for January 26th.

9.

Next Meeting- Sunday, December 12th at 6:00 at Penn Township.

Meeting adjourned at 8:34 PM
